Hanseatic Riga & Crusader’s Castles of Latvia
Second biggest after Stockholm, city on the Baltic Sea – Riga, famous for its medieval wealth and power, in the times being a part of Hanseatic League, and for magnificent Art Nouveau architecture of the early 20th century.
Walk to the main square will take you 5 min. During walking tour of Riga’s old town you will see Dome cathedral founded in the 13th century, knight’s castle, nowadays being the presidential palace, Latvian Parliament building, several medieval churches, one of them is St Peter’s church with outstanding viewing platform on top of the tallest spire in the city. In one of the city corners you’ll discover the powder tower and part of medieval town wall. We will not forget Roland – the patron saint of the city and magnificent house of the guild of the Blackheads.
You will walk crooked streets of old Riga to the Freedom Monument, and see the moat and park belt of old town.
We will walk the districts of stupendous Art Nouveau buildings from the early 20th century, and admire the inventive spirit of Riga architects.
A unique chance to see real Latvian countryside. Visit the castles located in the most famous national park in Latvia – Gauja national park.

The itinerary of the tour
10.00 am meeting the guide at the exit gate on the harbor.
10.00-11.30 am Walking tour of Riga old town
11.30-12.00 drive with the private vehicle to Art Nouveau district and seeing the beautiful buildings.
12.00-15.00 drive and visit to Sigulda castle and seeing the Turaida castle from outside.
15.00 – return back to the port.
BE NOTED: the timing above is a sample one, and will be arranged accrding to the actual time of ship’s arrival to the port. We used to start the program one hour after disembarkation.
