You will visit the Peter and Paul Fortress: the historic center of St. Petersburg, one of the few remaining citadels in Europe, and the main political prison of tsarist (and later Bolshevik) Russia.
You will also visit the Peter and Paul Cathedral with its famous tomb of the emperors, where you will see the burial places of Nicholas II, Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, Alexander III, Catherine II, and, of course, Peter I – the city’s eponymous founder.
Our next stop will be the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood. Its multi-colored domes, brick patterns, corbels, and pilasters make it stand out among the architectural ensemble of the city center. Savior on Spilled Blood is a memorial church, built on the place of a the Alexander II assassination.
