Great 2 days to Peterhof and Catherine’s Palace
We arranged two tours with Red Sun. One to Peterhof and another to Catherine’s Palace. From the very first correspondence, I had a good experience with Red Sun. Elena, the owner, was very responsive and always very prompt and thorough with her email responses to my inquiries. For our first tour, to Peterhof, we were fortunate to get Elena as our guide. We had a driver that drove us out to Peterhof and along the way Elena pointed out many historical sights. At Peterhof, the highlight is its spectacular gardens so visiting them is a must. The main palace is quite crowded so I think you might have a better experience visiting some of the smaller buildings at Peterhof especially if you are going to also visit Catherine’s and the Winter Palace (Hermitage). Elena was a very thorough guide and her driver was excellent.
For our second tour with visited Catherine’s Palace. Our tour guide again was named Elena (but not the owner). Red Sun arranged for us to get skip the lines entry at 11 am. Elena was a very proficient guide. She had a detailed knowledge of the palace, it’s history and contents which made our visit very enjoyable. Besides seeing the main palace, we walked up the ramp that provided an overview of the gardens, visited the grotto and wandered through the gardens. Throughout, Elena was most informative and helpful including assisting us with photographs.
Overall, I would recommend Red Sun Tours if you are looking for a small tour company that will go the extra mile to accommodate your private tour needs and desires. Elena, the owner, is very responsive and will work very hard to develop a program that will fulfill your requests (travel with kids, elderly, etc.).
